Testing design interventions in an existing neighbourhood block of King’s Hedges. Improving perceptions of safety, communal space and enhancing homes. Inspiration from fieldwork case studies.
- house extensions – replacing high fenced back gardens with front doors on the street and semi-private courtyards
- infill on garage sites – natural surveillance and communal courtyards
- mews houses – new homes lining a main through road to place eyes on the street
- new park-side apartments – replacing alleyways with generous routes and front doors for each apartment and roof terraces
- dedicated cycleway – safe route linking outwards
- cornershop – walkable amenities and neighbourhood gardens
